Doodle 13 - White Wings

So I've been away for a while but that is only because I'm working really hard at work. People think making video games is easy... Well ladies and gents, it is NOT! There are a lot of deadlines and things to fix. I love my job though, as an FX artist but one thing I dislike doing is Water FX. I've been doing them for the past 3months and I'm tired of it... I want to say that It will all be over soon, but in reality it is never over haha.

Oh and I bought some art books. Well just 2. I shouldn't spoil myself that much haha. I'm a huge Final Fantasy fan hence why I bought "Dawn: Worlds Of Final Fantasy" and I really love the artwork of the game Darksiders so I got "The Art of Darksiders". I also bought myself the, "Bastion Ultimate Collectors Bundle" yeah when i like something I must have something like... a memorabilia haha.
Darksiders, Final Fantasy, Bastion

The way many people learn to draw or get better at drawing is by copying masters and of course practicing. So I believe that I've learned a lot from Yoshitaka Amano (FF) but I feel there is always room to learn something new or to revisit old techniques. I would love to draw in the style of "Hand Painted" or at least improve. I love WOW, Darksiders, and even Bastion. They all have great art styles. All I have to do is practice and practice and oh!! Practice some more =) have to do it more than once to really do it by heart.

In this doodle I tried a different color sticky note. Used same techniques and tools as usual. I used a WHITE color pencil and a WHITE charcoal pencil though. I wanted to see how far I can take the white. I'm not sure what this is yet hahaha but I do like the white in it. Kind of reminds me of a fighter ship.

During the making of this doodle I noticed that my favorite pen to draw with was running out of ink. It sucks but y'know what, you must keep drawing. RIP Awesome Pen. I will find another to replace you.

Doodle 12 - True Love

Wow it's been a long while since I have posted anything up. This doesn't mean I haven't been doodling because I have!!

So I'm catching a freaking cold and I'm not liking it/ It really sucks. That stuffy nose, teary eyes, constant sneezing, runny nose... no cough though which is the best part haha. Nonetheless being sick is never fun.

So every morning there is something I do. Something that helps me wake up and enjoy every morning. I'm talking about coffee. I love coffee. Not because of the caffeine, but because its like waking up to something rich and beautiful. Who knew that the color Black can be sooo sexy haha.

So of course I was bound to make a doodle about coffee. Hope you enjoy. One of my favorite cups of coffee/espresso is the Mexican Mocha. If you ever go to Sabor y Cultura on Hollywood and Gramercy make sure you give this drink a go. I love you coffee, thank you for comforting me all the time =D

Doodle 11 - Happy Mountain

Alright !! this time I will definitely try and keep up with my blog. I've been so busy. Work work work!! OK so what do I do for a living?? I am part of a development team in creating games! I'm a VFX artist! I can make magic and cool stuff explode! Yay!! My 1st dream come true! Yes yes, thank you thank you. I do work hard. I remember those sleepless nights at school and caffeine junkie moments... life of a student I don't miss it... Stay In School!

So I want to say first of all that I'm not THAT young. I watched cartoon when I was younger so don't blame me if I didn't know who Bob Ross was. So my co-worker told me about him and his happy trees and wonderful pinkish clouds. I will not lie, his style of painting is very cool.

I love Japan. No matter what people say or do. Japan has been a great influence in many peoples lives one way or another. Their artwork is really inspiring. They are just really good with their creativity skills. So I was watching an art video and they showed images and two of them was of Japanese traditional woodblock prints. Very beautiful.

I was pretty much inspired by both these influences. I doodles and I really liked what I did.It may not be so amazing or colorful but I like my happy mountains =D

Doodle 10 - Thinking A Bit

Well then awesome people!! Yes you! Yup you are awesome!! Really I'm not lying =D Just smile because it's another day in which you can just GO and DO  something really cool. Something that you would really love to do. You want to sit at home and just relax... I won't blame you because that is something I wish I could do I also think too much and I wish I could just learn to forget for a couple of hours but hey we are humans so we have to stay awake and work hard to pay the bills. We are ALL AWESOME! So Just Smile =D

Let me tell you about this next doodle of mine. This doodle I did when I was in H.S and I did it for a girl. A really nice beautiful girl. Cute, gentle, funny, always smiled, and was 100% straight oh! and Peruvian haha. That didn't matter really she was a good kid. Very nice, she kind of inspired me to be the flirt that I WAS! haha her and my old manager. They were just so cute and I couldn't help myself. So anyway, this doodle I did it for my friend because she would always have her hair short and all the way up. She looks sooo cute! I love penguins too so I guess it's why I decided to do it. I've done many variations over the years. I gave her the original one though. We haven't talked for over 6 years now but I will never forget the good memories.

Doodle 9 - Sad Tree

Alright been a long time since I did one of these. I have to get back to telling you about my doodles haha. Well nothing new has happened in my life other than getting a nice nice raise. Now I can buy myself an awesome monster computer!!

It is now the new year 2012. Hopefully this year can bring us a lot of new adventures! I want an adventure! Something to spice up my life a bit. I did take up 3 things at the end of last year that are very interesting,

1. Learning American Sign Language! (learned a lot...still going at it)
2. Poker with work buddies(2 wins so far)
3. and last but not least juggling! (to improve my hand-eye coordination and rhythm)

But I want more. Something that can be very thought provoking... we'll see what happens
Back to doodling. I want to show you a quick process of how I doodle. Here is a sad tree... not sure why I made it look sad but it ended up this way.

As you can see this is made up of little lines that just make up shapes. Nothing solid! Some do indicate shadows or ground. Line work!
Ok on this one we can see that I established that it IS a tree. I was thinking that it would be sad if leaves were burning off the tree as the tree stood there and did nothing. Just imagine you on fire but you can't even move or yell or anything. Tree's are good to us but we are not to them.
This is the final image. I used ink and markers to make it look smudgy and wet. Falling leaves are colored in read. for me it was symbolizing pieces of the tree bleeding as parts of it died. They fall and pile on the ground and become nothing but ashes.

This is a sad doodle but hey we draw what we see.
